Generally Plugin creators will update the plugin as soon as a major wordpress version is released. To update the wordpress plugins follow the below steps
Step 1: Login into the WordPress Admin
Step 2: Click on Updates on the right side
Step 3: Select the plugins you want to update & click on Update plugins (or)
Step 4: Go to Plugins
Step 5: And whenever there is a updated version of Plugin you will get a message like as shown below
Step 6: You can click on Update Now to Update the Plugin also
The second method of updating the plugins is the best way as it allows you to update it individually and if there are any issues it allows you to isolate it and do damage control
